"Failed to attach the USB device"

I have just gone through the setup of the crazyflie but won't get it in the air due to an error in the VM. I get the following when I try to connect my PS3 controller:

"Failed to attach the USB device Sony PLAYSTATION(R)3 Controller [0100] to the virtual machine Bitcraze VM 0.8_1.

Failed to create a proxy device for the USB device. (Error: VERR_OUT_OF_RESOURCES).

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)

I'm running the VM on a MacbookPro with El Capitan installed. After connecting, reconnecting and rebooting a few times I got the controller to work for half a second, followed by the VM crashing and am now back to zero.

What to do?

Hi Marco,

What are you using to run the VM? VirtualBox or VMWare, or something else? I'll see if I can reproduce it...

Hey Chad, thanks for the reply!

I'm using Virtual Box but I found the solution to the problem.

It seems that it was not a software problem or anything the like. I realised that the cable I was using to connect the PS3 controller had a loose connection so I tried a different one and now it all works perfectly smooth!

EDIT: A different cable, not a different controller.

Nevermind, same error again even though it worked perfectly fine yesterday...

At first I didn't manage to use my PS3 using USB controller on my 10.10.5 OSX Yosemite using virtualbox. I gave up on Bluetooth because that seems to be a specific Yosemite problem if using Virtualbox. Anyways I couldn't get it to work.

But after trying many things I found this nice page, and installed it in the xubunto.
Now the ps3 with usb controller works fine.
