New CrazyFlie 2.0 Always drastically flies in one direction

Post by gohokies »

Hey All, just got my CF 2.0 and I havent had the best luck. It flew 'properly' for the first few minutes then started favoring a certain angle. It seems to always fly to the direction of the green LED.

Before you ask:
- All 4 rotors spin at power-on.
- Prop direction is verified correct.
- Propellers are balanced.
- motor mounts and motors have been rotated, still favors that one direction.
- I repositioned battery to ensure that wasn't weighing down that side.
- tried multiple tablets as controllers (and I dont smash the throttle either)
- I don't have the USB Radio so I can't try controlling from the computer (why can't the computer bluetooth control since mobile bluetooth can?!?) I am planning on picking it up if I can get this working.

Here's a video of the badness. Let me know what suggestions you have. Thanks, I just really wanna get some use out of this and not as a paper weight.

You seem to have tested all the "usual suspects" so I'm starting to guess something might be wrong with the sensor (probably the accelerometer). You can connect the CF2 to the cfclient with USB. There you can check that the sensor is level in the flight tab.

As for the bluetooth smart or BLE to computer there is some work done here in the forum to get it to work on MAC. The problem with BLE is that the stack is different on all platforms which makes it a mess to support.

tobias -- thanks for the prompt response. I have screenshotted my 'flight' tab for your opinion. I put the CF2 on a flat surface when I took the reading.

The sensor readings looks ok. Have you ever got a failed startup test (five quick red flashes)?

In the cfclient you can open a console tab. Connect to the cf2 and look for any error outputs.

Ground effect can generate weird behavior, what if you "shot" it up in the air with a thrust impulse. Does it go straight up?
