dropping packets very fast

Hi,
got my crazyflie yesterday, I soldered it as per instructions, updated software,
it boots fine, but the issue is that it only works if it's less then a meter from the radio, if I
go beyond that it instantly drops the connection.

I've tried on linux, windows 8, the VM that you guys have, same issue.
I tried on separate computers as well,
and with a extension for the USB (just to make sure)..

Are there any obvious ways to start to debug this issue?
Are the radio chips close to where I soldered? (I've noticed the chips that are close to the engine wires, is that related to the radio?, or are that for the engines?).

Radio issues are not easy to find. Have you read this thread? You might find something there. Does the dopping packets seem to be related to having the motors running?

changing frequency does not help
changing channel does not help
changing OS does not help
update to latest firmware and client application does not help either.

It seems to me like I have the same issue as the person in this thread:
http://forum.bitcraze.se/viewtopic.php? ... t=10#p2780

http://forum.bitcraze.se/viewtopic.php? ... t=10#p3004

so right now I'm stuck with a useless quadrocopter..

I do not know if it helps, but I get these errors:
