I made myself a little piece of hardware that turns my Spektrum TX into a USB joystick.

I didn't make schematics or anything but I'd be happy to walk anyone through it if you're interested.

I've been building my controller with a Pi & LCD Screen, the idea is to put it all into a transmitter, something like this would save me some time!
