I'm another disappointed customer. Out of the box, the crazyflie was uncontrollable and instantly kept crashing.I already own several "cheap" small quad copters which work much better and are far more controllable. I was expecting a lot more.

I instantly broke two of the plastic motor mounts within minutes. I'm on my last four...they're a weak design. I've bought a play station controller and got it working with that but it doesn't improve things much. The controls are far too sensitive. I'll try to balance the props and upgrade or mod the firmware to see if things can be improved.

I'm sure it has potential... But out of the box - disappointing.

I have a 3d printer...can anyone share the cad files for the motor mounts? I will print my own and improve them... Also maybe add some "training" bumpers and rotor protectors.

ok, I was among those disappointed by never being able to control / hover the CF with the iPhone app:

coming here to reassure it is definitely a problem on the app. Got my CrazyRadio, then plugged my Xbox one controller (using a Mac with xbox one controller enabler), and there is an enormous difference. I can now take off much easier, control is really stable and still trying to figure out how to hover but now it seems like a matter of practice while in the air rather than crashing and starting over every 2 seconds.

from a business perspective I think the iPhone app should either be advertised as completely experimental or not be in the AppStore at all, because it's going to mislead pretty much every new customer into thinking the CF 2.0 is purely defective.

Great to hear you're able to control the Crazyflie much better with a physical controller. It is definitely easier for a number of reasons (tactile control, better data rate, etc, etc...) The learning curve is also much lower. Once you get good at flying with a controller, come back to the iPhone app and you might find it easier to learn.

Keep in mind the whole Crazyflie kit is a development platform. It is entirely usable out of the box but it is made for further development. It's isn't an off-the-shelf, shrink-wrap product. There are many other nano-quads on the market that are, but then you don't have access to all the schematics, components, software, and firmware that goes into making those. You also don't have the opportunity with those to better the platform by contributing back. With the Crazyflie, you get all that but the learning curve is much steeper. It's a trade-off.

I was disappointed with the iPhone controller as well. It is very hard to get it to be stable in the air. An easy fix would be for the controllers to reset to nuetral everytime you lift your fingers off just like what happens when you release your fingers from a real world joystick.

Anyways, I also bought an Xbox 360 controller. I have no idea how to make it work. I read in the input controllers area and there was no way to undersntad how I should go about making sure it was connected?

How did you guys do it? I bought this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QR ... ge_o08_s00

Are you running the Crazyflie python client on Windows, Linux, or Mac?
