Crazyflie 2.0 goes crazy after crashing

Post by chefkoch »

Hi there, this is my first post on this forum, first of all I'd like to mention that the Crazyflie 2.0 is a fun little quad and makes me smile every time I fly it. There is only one problem: After every crash (no matter if it was "gently" crashing or smashing into the wall) my Crazyflie goes crazy -.-
This issue really annoys me every time it occurs and I just don't know what causes it...It doesn't matter what platform I use, it occurs on my headless raspi as well as on my Windows 7 machine. Props are balanced and battery is placed properly. I think it has to do with the accelerometer since every time the issue occurs my flight data display seems to lag and "Pitch", "Roll" and "Yaw" go crazy.
Is there anyone out there facing the same problem? Anyone who can help me?

Thanks in advance,
chefkoch

Hi chefkoch,

Your issue does not sound normal. There was a bug that made the Crazyflie go crazy called "Spin of death",
but this was only triggered by a fast spin on the yaw axis and has been fixed in the latest firmware.

Can you reproduce the issue by holding the Crazyflie in your hand and tilting it around (e.g. upside down)?

Fred

Thank you for your fast reply.
Yes, I can reproduce this issue by tilting/gently shaking the Crazyflie in my hand :(

In the cfclient can you please check the console output for any I2C error messages. This might be a cold solder issue with the MPU9250 sensor chip. If that is the case PM me.
