[SOLVED] No self test, or connection

Post by labbatom77 »

I got my board Crazyflie today and read all the instructions for assembly before doing anything. *I did assemble before testing though.

As of this moment, the CF seems to be DOA. My blue power LED is the only thing that has lit up. there is no self test and i cannot connect to the CF client wirelessly or through USB. I have checked the motor connections, they are not shorted. I checked battery voltage, it is reading 3.97V.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I might try next?

I thought to try and reflash the firmware, but i cannot even do a cold boot for the bootloader.

Thanks!

Edit: Marking as [SOLVED} due to a bad solder joint on the board. view the final post for an explanation.

Update 1:
I measured the feedback voltage on the regulator and got 1.21V. (From this post http://forum.bitcraze.se/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=516#p3439)
I measured between DGND and VCC, it reads 2.79V.

Final Update and marking as Solved:

More debugging today in a last ditch effort to make it work before contacting the supplier. I started pressing on components while powered on. I don't exactly know which one i pressed yet, but it seems to have made the correct connection. If it happens again, I will systematically go through and press every one of them until I find the culprit again. Seems to have been a bad solder joint.

I will look under a microscope tomorrow and investigate which component I think it may be, but it seems to have righted itself.

Now all I need to do is figure out how to fly this darn thing.
