Crazyflie will light up over USB but not from battery

Post by jonrohan »

This may be a really basic problem. I just put my crazyflie together, and it won't respond to the on/off button (after responding once). It lights up fine once it's plugged into usb. I'm scared that my poor soldering busted it somehow.

I'm currently installing some of the pc_utils libs to see if I can diagnose it anyway.

I hope you meant on/off push button and not switch.
Some people have broken it because they thought it was a toggle switch.

oh yeah, I meant button, I didn't try to switch it. I still feel the slight click when i press it in. it just doesn't turn the unit on.

The switch could be defective.
You may have caused a short, I would check in the area around the button on both sides of the PCB.

From the pictures you updated your OP with I can see motor M1 is shorting to R24 and M2.
You should use some solder wick to remove the extra solder.

I don't think this is causing the issue with the button though. Although R24 goes to U8 which is part of the power circuitry (I'm to lazy right now to see what the pin of U8 does).

You need to check that no solder blobs accidentally shorted parts near the button like R31 & U10.

The soldering is most likely your problem and you also seem to have shorted the motor wires. Solder flux and solder wick will help you clean it up.

The soldering should look similar to this.
