Too many packets lost

Just got a crazyflie. I am new to all of this. I am running linux mint 15. I have everything working until I press the throttle on the joystick, when the propellers spin for a second or two and then I get a too many packets lost error.

firmware is cflie-2013.4.bin and cradio-0.52.bin
I am using a generic PS3 joystick, but I encounter the problem even if I try to spin the blades through a python script without the controller attached.

I have tried to do this through the virtual box and natively; get the same error.

I am getting telemetry data displayed on the client and it's otherwise responsive to input. I thought perhaps the generic ps3 controller but python did the same. It is not until I throttle that anything goes wrong.

I've tried many different channels and they all yield identical results.

I am pleased that I have learned so much about all of the many topics I've encountered, but I am getting frustrated. I am going to try to get everything running on an old windows machine which I guess should isolate the nature of the problem. In the meantime, any ideas? Am I missing something obvious?

Tried everything in windows. Same problem: as soon as throttle is applied, too many packets are lost and the cf disconnects.

How good of a job did you do soldering on the motor wires? Does the antenna chip on the CF look damaged? Can you show a pics?
If the antenna chip is damaged the EMI from the motors spinning up could be enough to kill the signal.

You may be getting interference from other signals like WifI. You can try changing the radio channel or take the CF somewhere else and see if it behaves the same.

I did not do as good of a job soldering as I should have done. I will post a picture if I can't figure out what is going on. Thanks for your help.
