Battery Replacement

Post by proplane64 »

I have a Dell rechargeable battery Lithium-Ion 3.7V rating, 7WH capacity, Type # P9110 (2008 Rev A02) from a Dell/Google server. Okay to use in place of Crazyflie 2.0 default/stock battery? Pics: http://peterorrick.com/a/batt

I agree that it looks way too heavy. Pictures can be deceiving though. How much does it weigh. The Crazyflie can handle up to 15g so if it's over that, you're out of luck.

Dell battery was indeed too heavy at 15g+.

A few add'l battery Qs:
1. In place of the stock lipo battery, can we use:
1a) normal AA/AAA batteries?
1b) circular watch batteries?
1c) circular hearing aid batteries?

2. Can we use solar power to recharge the stock lipo battery?

Thank you in advance!

As you need a battery which can handle 4-6A burst currents it rules out all your suggestions. I would suggest looking for LiPo batteries. If you are looking att extending your flight time have a look at this investigation we did.

If you need more batteries, I can recommend these: http://www.banggood.com/5X-Eachine-3_7V ... 93948.html
I've been using these batteries for quite some time now and I think I can say they are a good alternative. They are a bit bigger, so you need to use the longer header pins to attach the battery holder PCB. Even with their additional weight, I think I got about 9min flight time with a brand new battery, in contrast to maximum 6-7min with the stock battery.
