FPV Camera setup with realtime HUD - For NOOBS

Post by viking »

Hello,

This new thread starts in complement and suit of the following conversation :
http://forum.bitcraze.se/viewtopic.php? ... t=30#p4039
... about on how to built an FPV Camera setup with realtime HUD

About to find my bearings in the CF, it is difficult I must admit, for a noob as me. Without a complete "Noobs start the CF" guide for the coding part(only the FAQ and the Forum exist know), I do not know if I have to start to study the firmware(in C) or direct dive in head down in the Python world to find out all the secrets of the CF-PC-Client part...including this interesting HUD!

This is the reason and the idea when I came into the post "Working FPV Camera setup with realtime HUD" (http://forum.bitcraze.se/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=491), to take this project as a first start.

This project involves the complete system of CF including the hardware and electronics part, touching the firmware and also the PC-client part ... Just perfect to start. I am also a very documenting person and will certainly document everything I found, any advices and codes explained here to easy reproduce a draft guide that I will share on the site when finish and with the ID-owner authorization of course. I will be very pleased to have him as main helper as well all the other persons that already built that kind of FPV Cam realtime HUD.

The first advice omwdunkley gave me is to leave the video part. Get a HUD up and running as you like it, feed in information from the CF and let it react. Once I have that up and running, I can add video to it.

There is also a HUD in the CF-pc-client in Python that reacts to roll and pitch. Would be nice to have a minimalistic driver that displays that HUD element. In this way, I could add some more python, more things to log, and design the look of it myself.

Up to you the Pro's! :)
And best regards

Yo, sounds good :) One step at a time ;)

I guess a good starting point would be to use the virtual machine they provide: http://wiki.bitcraze.se/projects:virtualmachine:index
If you have problems getting that to work, let us know!
