way to know which motor I should replace to new one

Post by t.yoneda »

Hi

brush motors deteriorate after long use, and crazyflie also uses brush motors.
recently, my crazyflie seems to be getting unstable during flight.
Is there any way to know which motor I should replace to new one in crazyflie?

Hi t.yoneda!

You could try running the propeller test in the cfclient (under the console tab)!

thanks jonasdn!

I am aware of the propeller test and frequently test motors and propellers with it.
however, the crazyflie flips in flight

in addition to the propeller test, I use the plotter to check the power output of the hovering crazyflie motor to see if there are any abnormalities (too high/too low, etc.).

You can flick the propeller with your finger so that it spins for about 1 second. Usually you will hear and feel the quality of motor + propeller. A propeller that is unbalanced, if the shaft is bent or the motor is worn out, will not spin smoothly or it will vibrate. This is a sign that it needs some love :-)
Also check if there is hair stuck between the propeller and the motor, that is a pretty common problem.
