I just got our Big Quad deck, and I'd like to use a particular externalsensor, but that sensor sends its data over SPI. I've looked over the Big Quad firmware and diagrams of the deck, it looks like so long as I use the macro to disable the voltage and current monitoring I could use SPI from a prototype deck without issues. Am I on the right track?

Yes you can use SPI and the big quad deck but we found a bug so you need to patch the big quad deck for it to work. The problem is the capacitor marked C1. If you remove that capacitor it works after disabling the voltage and current monitoring as you pointed out.
