Hello
I tried to glue some shock absorber on my cf2.
But the glue I used do not agree (?) with the kind of plastic of the motors mounts.
I tried cyanoacrylate and benzisothiasol without success. The mount no trace of glue.
what is your recommendation ?
Thank you in advance.
Regards
Jean-Claude

Hi Jean-Claude,

We've never tried gluing on the motor mounts, so I can't recommend a glue for it. But the motor mounts are made from PP plastic, so your best bet is to find a glue what work well on that.

Best regards,
Marcus

Hi
The recommended products do glue the motors mounts are not efficient.
Cyanotith, Patex contact, 2 components epoxy, no one stocks to the mount...

Hi everybody
Motors mounts are really ironclad material.
I tried acetone with no action at all !
Last hope, use a preparation product?

Polypropylene is very hard to glue. It's resistant to solvents.

You can try to rough up the contact surfaces by sanding them with a coarse sandpaper or file and then using a a specialty adhesive and pressure (clamp or weights) to create a thin-film bonding layer in-between (the thinner and more surface area you can cover, the better). Still this won't likely be an exceptionally strong bond and may pop-off eventually.

There are also some products that are heat activated and can bond PP plastics.

The best way is ultrasonic welding but it's likely you don't have access to the equipment (maybe a local makerspace does?). I guess you could experiment with a hot-air gun...

At the end, I found a method:
1-strongly scratch the plastic with sand paper (I say strongly...)
2-use 2 components epoxy glue
Now it works
