Hello! I'm busy planning how to program and upgrade my nano quadcopter once it arrives in May (yes, I'm a 2nd batch customer).

I thought that the 7 minute flight time is ok, but why not upgrade the battery for more flight time and peripherals? I estimate the 170mAh 3.7V battery that comes with the quadcopter to weigh about 4.1 grams. I have found a 340mAh battery that weighs 6.3 grams (assuming they are telling the truth), example: http://ufo-battery.en.alibaba.com/produ ... t_MP3.html

Adding on the http://www.fpvhobby.com/143-sub-nano-combo-set.html (which was mentioned in the comments section of the key chain camera blog post and accepts 3.5-5V power) would add another 1 gram.

So, total added weight is 3.2 grams for double battery capacity + camera!

EDIT: I forgot to state that the payload capacity seems to be 5 grams for good flying performance and 10 grams as an absolute max. Source: http://www.seeedstudio.com/depot/preord ... -1365.html

Changing battery shouldn't be a problem but I'm not so sure your suggested battery will work that well.
They state:
10. Continous discharging current: 340mA
11. Discharging Current (Max. ): 680mA

The Crazyflie consumes 1400mA only when hovering. So to get good flight performance you need a >15C preferable 25C continuous discharge current. If you find a 340mAh with 25C and 6.2g please let us know because that would improve flight performance and flight time a lot

They also have a 350mAh 3.7V battery, but at a cost of 11 grams.. a bit heavy

That battery would work much better but the dimensions are not optimal: 5.7x18.6x41.5. The "inner" shape of the Crazyflie is 30mm and it would be good if the battery stayed inside this dimension. Also a more square battery would give better flight dynamics as the inertia would be more even.

And you can't use two batteries of the kind that comes with the Crazyflie in parallel and stacked?

I'm not completely sure but it should be possible to stack them in parallel, a bit difficult to realize though.

I recommend to use velcro tape to attach the LiPo on the CF for faster battery exchange. It is also very well to find the perfect Balancing during the assembly.

Another method (if you don't have access to velcro tape) is using a small rubber band like this:
