More powerful coreless motor
Re: More powerful coreless motor
Nice blog and great work! Video!
Re: More powerful coreless motor
thanks, I'll try to make a video this weekend...!
Re: More powerful coreless motor
Hey guys, i went ahead and bought the 8.5mm motors and everything is set up but i have the same issue as piesi was having with the disconnection.
I tried what tibias suggested and added a 100uf capacitor between the battery connector leads and then tried all the way up to 4x220 uf in paraless but as of now the connection gets cut off at about 50% thrust and there is considerable lag in the controls, the lag increases with thrust % so im guessing it is due to the same reason.
I don't have access to an oscilloscope and even so i have little electronics experience. I read piesi's blog but i don't fully understand where the other two capacitors he used were placed.
Once it is up and running i plan of making a blog post and will share it here!

Re: More powerful coreless motor
Hi Alfredvc,
I just realised, that I was wrong with my description. The two capacitors are connected to VCC
and DGND. You can see it on this graphic, it's connector P5:

Re: More powerful coreless motor
Thanks for the quick reply! I'll check this out after work and will post the results!
Re: More powerful coreless motor
Well bad news, i tried what you suggested. I added 4x220uf capacitors in parallel between the battery connector wires and another set of 4x220uf capacitors between vcc and dgnd but i keep having the same issues as before. Cuts off at about 50%
Re: More powerful coreless motor
uups, I'm wrong again! Connecting the caps to vcom and gnd was right in
the first place. Sorry for the confusion, I mixed up some tinker memories.
I've added a picture of my working setup were you can see how I connected
the cpacitors:

good luck, i feel it will work now;)

Re: More powerful coreless motor
It worked! Kind of, it doesn't disconnect anymore which is huge progress but there is still up to a second of delay between controller input and rpm change. The delay gets bigger the longer the crazyflie has been running/how fast . Ill test further tomorrow! Thanks a lot for your help so far!
Re: More powerful coreless motor
finally, here is the video: http://youtu.be/w2nzqslwzCk
you can see that I use a new frame. It now protects the
propellers too. the whole copter now weights about 65g.
given that one motor does about 30g lift, there is still
plenty of headroom.

Re: More powerful coreless motor
Awesome! Looks like a lot of punch in the trust. So did you manage to fix the radio issues?
