The schematic shows the part numbers.
Does the board still have a short without the diode? The diode blowing open wouldn't explain the short.

Been a while - been travelling for work.

Managed to get home for a couple of days - so answering the question, I looked at the schematics and D2 says it's BAT54, but whenever I look online for BAT54 (which appears to be a Schottky barrier diode,BAT54 0.2A 30V), there are three leads on it. The ones on the board only have two.

Any ideas?

I can't remember if the short is still there, I plan to try and recheck it later.

The diode is a SOD package. I'm not sure if it's sod-123 or sod-323.
Some one from bitcraze will be able to give the exact part number

It's the SOD-323 package and we use the BAT54JFILM part number.
Are you sure it is broken? Did you measure it with the diode mode on the multimeter?
