Problems with German customs to be expected? :-/

Post by Hogosha »

Hey Bitcraze developers.

I'm from Germany and pre-ordered a 10-DOF Crazyflie from the first charge.
Now I heard that even the Famous Kickstarter-Project "Pebble" (the Smartwatch) had problems with the German customs, because of radio-technology and missing certifications and things like these.
They had to let the customs destroy the Smartwatches or send them back.
Do I have to be scared, I could possibly not get my Crazyflie? Are all certifications there and good visible for the customs, in case they open the package?

I can't wait to get my Crazyflie and the pictures of the first production samples made it much worse.

I hope to here good news from you.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

i'm also from germany and was worried about the customs, too. I searched the seeedstudio forum about that topic and found this post (ordered the second batch):
After talking with Seeed, we have established a simple procedure for proper declaration of registered mail shipments that works well for Germany:

1. When placing the order I enter the requirements into the comment field:
- declare contents with real value/total amount of invoice on the custom slip/form and mark as commercial shipment
- include 2 copies of the invoice
2. When I receive notification from the postal service here in Germany to collect the shipment at the customs office I
- fill out the custom declaration slip that's attached to the notification (including the proper tax codes for the items)
- take copies of the Paypal payment and the Seeedstudio order confirmation eMails and a screenshot of the invoice/order from the Seeedstudio online shop "My Account Information" --> "Previous Orders" and collect the shipment at the customs office - as a company you need a custom ID number (Zollnummer) as well.

No more problems since we established this procedure - most if not all items I have ordered from Seeed so far have no customs fee anyway, only import tax (19% for Germany atm).

Again, many thanks to Eric & Fan for their cooperation!

I think the customs maybe will block the shipping an we have to pay customs duties and tax, normally the customs inform you with a letter about that and give you some time to took the order directly from the customs center after unpacking the package an paying the duties and tax. Don't forget to take a hardcopy of the bill and your identity card with you.

Would be great if you could share your experience here when your order arrived.

Greetings
Crazyflie Nano 10-DOF

Same here, no problems whatsoever with german customs.

Thanks for that guys.

Ordered on the 6th of may, got it on the 23rd of may.

Here is a screenshot of the DHL order status

Attention: As soon as you get an UPU / Matchcode there won't be anymore status updates on the DHL site. It took three days from getting the UPU Code to holding the package in my hand.
