Post by bebensiganteng »

sorry if this has been asked before, but i couldnt find any answer.

Specs
- Macbook pro
- Mac OSX 10.8.4
- 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
- 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Console report
https://gist.github.com/bebensiganteng/5802665

I'm having issues connecting the Quadcopter → USB Dongle → PC Side application.

- The Quadcopter red light always blink at 1hz frequency
- On the USB dongle there are 2 lit lights red and green (non-flashing)
- On the pc side whenever I tried to scan the device it always shows "Debugger driver for UI testing" [screenshot below]

I dont have any controllers since I'm trying to modify the client app so it accept keyboard commands, but is this the cause of the problem?

on other note, I read that the batteries can be recharged, but is it possible to do that in this version http://wiki.bitcraze.se/_media/projects ... quired.png ?

please advice.

thank you.

If the Crazyradio LEDs stay lit it has not been detected and enumerated by the host operating system. It might be because of a USB3 port issue that has been fixed in a newer firmware. Can you try it in a USB2 port or have a USB2 hub you can test it in. The Crazyradio LEDs should lit up when you insert it into the port but turn off soon after that.

Unfortunatly I don't have a Mac and can't help you that much but others probably can.

The Crazyflie will charge the battery when the micro-USB cable is inserted. http://wiki.bitcraze.se/projects:crazyf ... uide:index

Thanks for the reply, tested it on USB2 and the lights turned off once i plug it, but i wanted it to work on my MacBook.

Tried to flash the firmware by following this instruction

http://wiki.bitcraze.se/projects:crazyradio:programming

but the process stopped when it tried to detect the USB dongle

Code: Select all

> cd crazyradio-firmware
> python usbtools/launchBootloader.py
Error!, cannot find the CrazyRadio USB dongle!

Did you use the Bitcraze VM 0.3 when trying to upgrade? Also you need a working setup before it is possible to upgrade it.

The radios are tested and flashed using the bootloader in the factory so it is not that likely that it is broken. It can be "bricked" if programmed with wrong firmware though, but you didn't get that far.

Hi,

If the LEDs go on when plugging the Crazyradio into a USB 2.0 port then it's not broken. What you are seeing is a firmware bug that was in the first batch that makes the dongle incompatible with USB 3.0. There's a firmware upgrade for the dongle to solve this problem. Plug the dongle into a USB 2.0 port, use the virtual machine and this guide to upgrade it.

Had the same issue. Found the solution! When you select Connect from the CFpanel and a window shows up and two entries: Radio...and Debug... I just assumed this was just connect log entries and just pushed the connect button in the bottom right. But NO, you have to select/highlight the "radio" line and THEN press the Connect button. All was good after that and the green light came on the copter. Joy, Joy.

Re: PS3 Controller Connection Issue

Post by Figgy »

I'm currently running the VirtualBox on a Mac and I am having major problems getting it to read and connect to the PS3 controller. I get a reading from the Radio, the CF gets the signal and flight data is transmitted to the program along with battery and link quality. But no control data is being picked up at all. I have tried everything. After shutting it all down about 10-15 times then it will connect with no problem. Then I fly, charge the battery and once again I can't get the control to work. I am plugging it in directly not using BT. Any help or suggestions with this would greatly be appreciated.

Figgy, I use VMWare fusion but I guess they must have a similar option. Have you ensured that you have selected an option to connect the USB to the VM rather than OSX?

With VMWare it comes up with a pop up, maybe virtualbox you have to choose an option in the toolbar?

Once you have connected it to the VM shut cfclient and re open. Then check you have the correct controller mappings set up in cfclient.
