Hi!

That might be tricky to do that really. So is this a student project? To actually remove stuff means you will need to remove connectors and solder wires and such directly on the board, which is not something that I would advise since it will be much more difficult to maintain it.

Are you allowed to replace parts? The easiest is to replace the motors with stronger ones (see viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3078&p=15150#p15150) or a higher capacity battery (viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2127&hilit=lipo).

Could you also let us know what type of camera and microphone you have, how heavy they are and how much watt they take, and what kind of output/input possibilities they have?

They just gave like

Crazyfly miniaturization: Crazyflie is a nano quad rotor, which is used widely
for Research purposes throughout the world. The drone itself weighs 27 gms
and has many inbuilt sensors with a provision to add many more sensors and
accessories. However, there is a limitation to it that it an fly for maximum of
7 minutes on a fully charged battery. In this project, we would like attempt
to reduce the size and weight of the drone so as to make it a potential spy
drone. The circuit, and PCB layouts are available as opensource files. You
are expected to identify and eliminate the unnecessary components with
respect to the application at hand and instead integrate only a camera (and
a microphone), and redesign the PCB so that, the size can be reduced to the
maximum possible extent.

It seems like a project assignment. Definitely interesting, but also something you would need to do on your own. ;) At least you got some hints to start of with.

You can to ask your supervisor/professor if motor replacements are allowed too for assignments.
