Cannot Wirelessly Connect to Crazyflie + It Heats Up

Post by RifRaf »

Current setup:
Crazyflie 2.0
Connected to BigQuad Deck
Controlled using python through CrazyRadio

Problem:
It suddenly became impossible for us to connect to the drone through wireless means. We made no changes in the configuration and software of the drone between the time it flew normally and the time it started having problems. We we're performing tests on our drone as usual. We took a short break and left the drone by itself in a room. The drone was untouched during this period. After the break we resumed testing, but the drone started flying erratically. After one more attempt with the test the drone refused to respond to any wireless commands. The tests we were performing was just commanding the drone to hover at a spot and to move back and forth.

The methods we've tried are: connecting to it using cfclient through crazyradio, and connecting to it using the android application. Both methods failed to connect to the drone. There was also no lighting up of the LEDs. The drone is still functional. We are able to connect to it through cable. It can also still go into boot loader mode.

Another we've noticed is that it's unusually warm. The front area (the part with button) up to a few centimeters going to the back is very warm. From what's I've researched is that this part is the bluetooth module of the CF.

Does anyone know what's going on with our drone and what we can do to fix it?

Hmm, strange behavior indeed. Have you tried running the CF2 disconnected from the BQ-deck? Can you connect to the radio bootloader? My guess is that something has shorted related to the VCC_NRF power supply.
