Hey guys,
I't pretty new to electrotechnics, but with some experience in software-development. I'm wondering if it would be possible to support the barometric altimeter (for rough measurement) with an more precise infrared distance meter such as the Sharp GPD12. It has a weight of about 4,4 gram, which should be okay for the craziefly?

Does it work with the voltage etc. devlivered by the crazyflie?

Re: Infrared distance sensor GP2D12
The Sharp InfraRed sensor I don't think will work, it gives an analog output, and the CrazyFlie IIRC doesn't have this - it does have I2C, though. The other down-side with the Infrared sensor is that it's limited to 80CM. which isn't very far. I'm using them on some robotics as a work tutorial project on coding autonomous systems, but we're having to use Sonar for a longer range, too.

The Crazyflie has some ADC on the expansion interface but you will be offering the SPI pins, but as Mohero says the sensor might be a bit limiting

Here's a sonar ranging detector that's 9 grams. Might meet your requirements:

Definitely need to check out this guy's post. He successfully installed an infrared sensor on his CF and has a video of it working. Helpful instructions.

Sorry to correct you, but he is actually using a sonar sensor (LV-MaxSonar-EZ0 ultrasonic proximity sensor) that weighs 4.3grams, according to the datasheet.
