FPV Flight Hardware

Post by Aido95 »

Hi,

This will be my first time tinkering with a crazyflie for a project.
I am looking to attach a camera (such as this - https://www.ebay.co.uk/c/6005618979) to the crazyflie and need to send live video for image processing via OpenCV to change flight path in real time autonomously to find a target on a table (such as a circle on a page or QR code).

I need to figure out a couple of things before confirming my purchases. Is the above mentioned camera suitable? I found it was used on a crazyflie in other projects I found online.
Can you send instructions to the crazyflie flight controller and receive video from a camera module with the crazyradio simultaneously? Or do I need a separate USB Rx for the video alone? Such as this? https://www.amazon.com/EACHINE-ROTG02-R ... 602&sr=8-5

Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not an FPV expert but to me it looks like the camera you linked to will work. It says 3.3-5V where 3.3v could be on the upper edge. If doing to quick accelerations, there can be battery voltage dips as low as 2.8V. If flying smoothly I think it will be fine.

The FPV camera will need a separate receiver and as you want it to the PC you need a digitizer (something similar to your link). Unfortunate I can't help you here but I'm sure internet can.

I used very similar hardware successfully. make sure you put the camera where it won't imbalance the drone too much.
yes you need the video receiver and it can work independently from the crazyradio without issues.
