New motors cause CF to completely shut down

Hi,

Replaced the stock motors with these

https://newbeedrone.com/collections/mot ... hed-motors

and now the crazyflie completeley shuts down when i press "launch" and wont turn on again until I disconnect and reconnect the battery.

Any ideas on what is going on?

If I did buy the wrong motors, what should i know for next time?

What propellers are you using with those motors. The CF propellers are probably overloading the motors which draws so much current that the battery protection circuit kicks in.

Potential solutions:
  1. Replace with another battery that can handle higher currents (higher C rating)
  2. Change to "smaller" propellers that does not load the motors as much

Hi Tobias,

Thanks for the reply, additional information here.
-- The props barely get up to any significant speed before it cuts out, (with flow deck 1.0)
-- I can fly the drone with the silver motors with CF propellors which are (KV: 14,800) (with flow deck 1.0) (https://newbeedrone.com/products/bee-dy ... -motor-set)
-- I can run the unicorn motors WITHOUT the props (KV: 25,500) (with flow deck 1.0) (https://newbeedrone.com/products/nbd-un ... hed-motors)
-- I can run the unicorn motor motors with CF props (with LED ring deck 1.0) BUT it cannot take off... motors run at a weird half speed.

Does this help at all?

I will order a higher C battery, how high should the voltage be?

When you change motors you probably have to re-tune booth PID and Kalman filter to get it to fly well, when you get it to fly. This is a different topic.

For the battery it should be 1 cell and preferably >25C rating for your setup. Try e.g. the batteries in this post.
