Crazyflie frozen, just rh blue light on

Post by PO1 »

Hi,

The Crazyflie was starting to act up a little so I tried reinstalling the latest firmware only to have it freeze. I cant do anything at the moment, the RH rear blue light is permanently on and it cannot be scanned. On a very tight project timeline

If you have flashed the firmware from the VM, we have observed that it can currupt the firmware durring flashing. See this post: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2857&p=14395#p14395.

You should still be able to reach bootloader by disconnecting the battery, pushing the button and connecting the battery while the button is pushed. Release the button when the blue led start blinking.

Hi Arnaud,

It does look like an intermittent issue when updating the firmware via the VM Client. Basically after hitting the program button the 2 uploads occur, then when you hit restart in firmware mode, it doesent. The Crazyflie doesent restart and so it stays in this RH Rear blue LED mode.

Fortunately you can clear this, by as you say, reattaching the battery while pressing the on button to put the Crazyflie into bootloader mode but most importantly update the firmware using the native windows version of the Crazyflie client. (The VM client doesent want to play ball)

The Crazyflie is now restarting successfully.

Good that this is solved for you :-). By design the radio bootloader is safe, it cannot erase itself, this is designed so that you can confidently work with the Crazyflie without the fear of bricking it.
