Very nice! Do you have any figures on weight? How does the Crazyflie perform with this attached?

This is both a feature and a drawback. The good thing is that during a crash some of the force will be taken up by the motor will be sliding and can prevent other parts from being damaged. The drawback is that if they are not pushed back the wires might be damaged.

Adding a bit of foam tape to the bottom of the motors might be a good solution.

Thanks for your input, but I would like to avoid mounting something like a cage to the CF.

I found an easy protection against dislocating motors that does the job for me. Found some plastic blind plugs with an inner diameter of around 7 mm. It tightly fits the motor mounts from below after trimming the length with a cutter.
These blind plugs act as some kind of glider on the ground, protect the motor cables and successfully prevent the motors from dislocating by creating a constant force on the outside of the motor mounts.

I'll post some pictures soon.

I glued (contact glue for foamies...) some foam pads under the motors.

Actually, I used earpads cut to half in length! One drop of glue is sufficient to hold all this together.

What do you guys think about documenting all those different great approaches for landing gear on the wiki? I started a page there in the "hacks and mods" section a couple of days back, so far only the NERF dart approach by mrb0y is featured there though.

Great idea foosel! I've added Pierre's hack above, which I'm going to try when I get home.
