soldering/desoldering help

Post by jweather »

Yikes, this thing is tiny! I've never tired to solder something so small. While trying to get my giant soldering iron tip in place to solder M1's wires, I managed to bridge 2-3 pins of the STM controller. :( Any advice for removing the solder bridges without damaging the chip?

This sometimes happens when working in tight spaces (especially with an oversized iron/tip). First thing to do is locate a more appropriate soldering iron and/or tip, some (fine braid) solder wick and some liquid flux.

Then check out these videos:

Find an older board, such as a spare nic or sound card to practice on first. Then dive in.

Thanks... a smaller tip and some flux helped a lot to pull the extra solder out. Crazyflie works great, only problem now is my flying skills!
