[SOLVED] Crazyflie not Flying...

Post by tomilla »

Hi there,

received my little beauty, but it is not flying.
I´m on a Macbook Pro with ubuntu VM. Everything seems allright. Flightcontrol shows movement of PS3-Adapter, Radio is flashing yellow, crazyflie selftest is ok, flashing yellow.
I´m at Factory default because i couldn´t find the flash instructions .

Thrust is going up but the Motors are not running. On Power up motors are ok.
does anyone have a solution for me?

would be nice.

thanks

When the Crazyflie powers up it does a self calibration as soon as it is placed on a stable surface. This is indicated by the red LED which starts to blink with 2Hz instead of 1Hz. Try placing it on a stable surface and the powering it up. Any difference?

Crazyflie is placed on a table. I think it blinks with 2Hz.

When i pick it up shouldn´t there be a movement on the Horizon?

Yes, when you have connected to the Crazyflie and it has calibrated, the virtual horizon should move and you should get figures in the "actual" text boxes. Don't you get that?

Yes I know how to update the Crazyflie but I think it is good if you manage to connect correctly to it first. Have you followed these instructions? http://wiki.bitcraze.se/projects:crazyf ... tils:qt_ui

To update the Crazyflie first download the firmware binary from the binary page: http://wiki.bitcraze.se/projects:crazyf ... ries:index
Follow these instructions: http://wiki.bitcraze.se/projects:crazyf ... bootloader

Problem solved - Motors Running. Looks like the Firmware was the Problem.

Thanks for your assistance!

I just wanted to chime in to say that I also experienced this problem: the crazyflie would never exit the sensor calibrating stage, even though a connection could be established with the crazyradio. (Re)loading the firmware fixed the problem. My guess is that the factory forgot to load the firmware?

Also, I am not sure the discussion was using the term Hertz correctly. Prior to the firmware load, the red light was flashing at 0.5 Hz (once every 2 seconds). Under normal operation, after the sensors are calibrated, the red light flashes at 2 Hertz (once every 1/2 second).

Thanks

Edit: It might be helpful to add a note to the wiki troubleshooting page to this fact: http://wiki.bitcraze.se/projects:crazyf ... leshooting

Edit 2: I forgot to mention that I'm having a blast flying my crazyflie! 8-)
