New camera issues

Post by 1pi »

Hello
After I installed the black and white camera on the ai deck I run the test camera example the process gets to the following step:
Entering main controller
Testing async camera capture
Opening hymax camera
Img orientation 3
qvga window enabled 1
Initialised buffers

After this line nothing happens.
I also run the wifi streamer and I get the following message no module named gi found..

Hi!

It is strange that it is able to open the himax camera and then nothing happens. Usually you will need to wait for 2 seconds before the 'writing image'. If the camera wouldn't work, it will get stuck at the opening himax camera read out.

So let's get some more information first:
- So as I understand correctly, you are using the AIdeck 1.0 and replaced the RGB camera with a grayscale camera right?
- Did the code work with the RGB camera?
-Which gap_SDK are you using?
- Are you using the docker images or a native install for flashing?

Hi kimberly
Yes I am using AIdeck 1.0 and replaced the rgb camera, yes the code worked with the RGB camera, I am using gap.SDK 8.0 and for flashing I am using the native install.
Thank you

Hi
Is it possible that the grayscale camera does not work on version 1 of the ai deck. I have tried several times to run the test example but keep getting the same results.

I have replaced the camera before on the AIdeck 1.0 and for me it worked, and also on the previous prototype we had a grayscale camera, so we can say with a good certainty that the grayscale camera should work on the AIdeck 1.0.

Maybe the new camera is not connecting properly, could you send a close up of the connection without the mount?

hi
here is the camera mounted without the cover. Is the notched wheel around the lens used for any purpose? I unplugged and re-plugged the camera a couple of times to make sure is in porperly. Can i test the camera with the cover off?

Thanks for the picture!

The connection seems good, but I'm worried about the condition of the flex PCB. It looks sharply bent and snapped, and I'm afraid that the flexpcb now is broken and the connection between the camera and the gap8 are disconnected...

Do you have another grayscale camera which you can try out?

Hi
I don’t know how that could have happened, because I was extremely careful when I installed it. No I don’t have another grayscale camera I got this one free of charge from bitcraze as they offered it to people who have the version 1.0 of the ai deck. Well I don’t know what to do, could it have been already damaged when I received it?
I feel terrible asking for a replacement as this one was free of charge.

Hi Rodrigo,

Send us an email at contact_at_bitcraze.io and we can help you out with this :) We haven't really provided a clear instructions how to install it either so we think it's fair to give you another code.
