Add a sensor on my drone

Hello!
I am the beginner of CF2,
I want to add a sensor, which is ADXL345 on my drone.
However, I have no idea where should I start first.
I already check Python IDLE and Eclipse, but I am still very confused.
Is it possible to add a sensor on drone by using the platform directly?
If it's possible, should I use Eclipse or Python IDLE or other development softwares?
