Flow Breakout Board Data

Hello,
I purchased the flow breakout board and connected it to the rpi zero which controlls a self made quadcopter.
The SPI connection with the PMW3901 works. I can read product id and revision id.
But I dont get any flow data as the delta data(registers 0x03,0x04,0x05,0x06) in the registers are always zero.
I only get some data if I hold the sensor towards the light or a light source.
