Bitcraze VM, VFS:unable to mount root fs on unknown block (0,0)

Hi All,
I'm trying to make Bitcraze (Bitcraze_VM_2016-06.ova) work on linux host (ubuntu 16.04) and I struggle a bit. I successfully imported it to VirtualBox (5.0.18), but every time I start it I get:
Anyone can help me with that?

EDIT: it seems to work under VMware, so probably it's a compatibility issue.
