dwm1000 distance calibration

Post by justinleeyang »

hi,

how to calibrate the dwm1000 measure distance error? 5m maybe 10cm, 10m maybe 20cm, 20m maybe 15cm.
only a linear equation ? new board maybe different equation.

Hi,

I suggest you look at Decawave's datasheet and application node. The antenna delay has a par that is design-dependent and another part that is per-sample dependent. If you want better precision you need to calibrate the board independently. There is also a receive-power dependency to antenna delay, this should already be compensated for but the compensation might not be completely accurate (it is based on Decawave's datasheets).

hi, arnaud:

yeah, but i find that default compensation's error maybe too big, need more precise.

We have tried some correction at some point (applying a correction vs. distance) but did not see great improvement in 3D position estimate in a real system (it actually seemed worst). There might be a need to improve the correction in the libdw1000 that is based in receive power.

Please keep us updated on your findings! :)
