Optimized rotors

Post by GemaRastem »

Are the rotors optimized for the crazyflie? It seems like there is room for a slightly larger rotor to be installed and increase the lift/payload allowance. But I'm not sure if the motor torque and rpm could handle a larger rotor; has this been explored?

The rotor is not fully optimized but putting a bigger rotor is unfortunately not the right direction off optimization. To get a higher efficiency from the motors the rotor should actually generate a bit less trust/rpm. Our test has shown that at hover the motors are about 50% efficient. We are hoverer looking at bigger motor/rotor upgrade possibilities and intend to open a thread about it as soon as we get there.
