Full power burns parts :(

Post by phiamo »

Hi, i nearly got a hovering mode implemented, when the flie started to BURN :o

near the r of r25 the thing started glowing and i removed the lipo as fast as i could ...
i am quite unsure if this was due to my tries to get the hover mode working, and having too much max thrust activated ....

now the whole flie is stinking for burned electrics and if i re-add the lipo the M1 Motor runs steadily :(

Any advice, other than check every single part and replace the broken ones ;) ?

I see a lot of flux residue. After you replace Q1 and any other damaged part I would clean the board.
All that flux residue makes it hard for you to see if you got a good solder connection.
Since it's sticky it can also hold small solder blobs that could short out pins between parts.

It looks like something around M1 shorted and the M1 transistor took the hit, but it didn't short hard enough to trigger the battery short circuit protection. That's a bit unlucky...
Everything except the M1 transistor seem to look fine so changing the transistor and cleaning the board should fix it.

Mhh i thought its more one of the PMV31XN not a transistor...
is the pcb layout somewhere accessible?
the dxf i found and tried to open with librecad did only contain the pcb form but not the components ...

PMV31XN is a transistor.
It's a FET and not a BJT but still a type of transistor.

We have a bit more work to do on the layout project (cleaning up) before we want to release it but hopefully you can find what you are looking for at the wiki: http://wiki.bitcraze.se/projects:crazyf ... schematics

Do you have your hover code somewhere we could look at? :)

So glad to tell i got it fixed :)
i did not get the original PMV31XN as soon as the TSM 2312 SMD which is nearly the same spec, so i used it since it got here and the flie flys again !!
Also got two new motors from seedstudio and replaced the one on m1 which was the broken one (http://forum.bitcraze.se/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=136)
maybe that was also a cause for this ....
