Raspberry Pi Image extraction problem

Post by Guest »

Hello everyone, first time poster here,

I have a really quick question about the new 0.3 Raspian Image, it is a .7z file, and when I extract it, I only get a .bin file, on the contrary to the 0.2 Raspian Image, which was a .zip, where a .img file was extracted. Now I know I need a .img file, and I have been able to make the Crazyflie fly before with 0.2 Raspian, so why is 0.3 extracted a .bin?
Am I doing something incorrectly?

Thank you

I just tried to extract the 0.2 .zip file again and it is also giving me a .bin, but I distinctly remember getting a .img file that could be written onto a sdhc card
What am I missing here?

The .bin file is just a binary image. You can write it directly to an SD card (just like the .img file). I'd recommend the 0.3 image available here.

Thank you very much, I already figured it out, I was using a Disk writer that would not allow me to write .bin files.

What disk writer do you use?
I'm trying with Win32 Disk Imager (on Windows7)
and seem to be having the same problem
with booting on the Pi.
