The LED ring option has been available for a long time in the dev-branch, but was just released officially in version 2015.08:

Hi Etienne, It depends on what you want to program. If you want to modify the firmware of the Crazyflie (low level C programming) and debug the different chipsets (STM32, NRF51) a debugger kit can certainly be handy, but it's not required. If you want to program client applications that send/receive...
