Re: Crazyflie w/ Double Motors

Thanks for the toothpick trick, marcus! The toothpicks I have at home are round and the pointed ends fit through the holes, but they keep falling out. I might have to hot-glue them in place. For now, the CD-ROM spool and catch method works okay. I haven't tried flying in a larger area, but the added...

Re: Crazyflie w/ Double Motors

The double motor configuration is complete. 2013-07-02 07.39.24.jpg 2013-07-02 07.39.40.jpg Video of double motor flight Battery: I swapped out the stock CF battery (170mAh 6 grams) with a 240mAh 7 gram battery for more flight time. The connector on the new battery is different, but you can use the ...

Re: Desolder/clean motor pads

What's the size or gauge of the motor wires? 26? 28? 1.5mm?

Looking for a good size wire for some basic wiring for an alternate charging station for extra CF batteries. Thanks!

Re: I want to add a camera

Looking forward to learning how SuperRoach's FPV plan turns out!

Question for the group:
I've heard the 2.4Ghz range has better transmission for indoor FPV flying. The nrf24L chip provides 126 Channels of 1MHz from 2400MHz to 2525MHz. Would there be a lot of bleedover/interference?

Thanks!

Re: System startup

This happens to me occasionally (once every 10 flights) but it's not a big deal. I get a radio connection with the CF (quick flashing green lights on the CF and on the Crazy radio USB, and my control inputs from my controller register on the screen (thrust level, etc.) but no movement on the propell...

Re: Exploring Crazyflie

HallMark, Welcome. In case you didn't know, the next lot of CrazyFlies will be in stock by early July (hopefully). I recommend you buy a few extra motors and propellers when you get your kit. Some Crazyflie pilots are better than others :) Also, you'll need a soldering iron and you'll need to know h...

Re: Battery and Power Source Discussion

Here's a graphic that illustrates Tobias' point about the diminishing returns from adding battery capacity.

This is why it's important to find the best compromise between adding battery weight and sacrificing maneuverability (83% rule).

Found this online quadcopter battery calculator. Above and beyond what I can comprehend, but may be useful for the engineers out there...

Battery and Power Source Discussion

I wanted to start a thread on optimum battery selection for the CF. Battery weight vs. flight time is often debated in quadcopter forums. The 2:1 Rule of Thumb - Not good for the CF The 2:1 thrust-to-weight ratio is a popular rule of thumb. That is, at 100% throttle, you want your combined propeller...

Re: Camera specs for using FPV camera

One other concern with fpvhobby.com is that nearly everything they have is 'out of stock'. The weights and performance look too good to be true. I feel like I'm ordering from the back of a Boy's Life magazine (vacuum cleaner hovercraft anyone? Anyone?) Would like to know if anyone has ANY experience...
